Default Monk Bots in Tombs Underworld?

Alright, I have to share something here.

I've never seen a "player bot" before. I'm aware of the solo farm bots, but never bots designed to run in groups (henches excluded of course). However, while in the Tombs Underworld tonight I was in a group that picked up TWO monk bots back to back! We realized the first monk was a bot, died, then got another monk - also a bot.

How did we come to the conclusion they were bots? They called thier heals for one thing. They moved akwardly...hench-esque. They didn't respond to flat out insults. They were very "bottish".

Anyone see anything like this on thier UW runs?

edit: It's probably worth mentioning that we were a b/p team. I'm speculating here, but as monk support is relatively minor in b/p teams as most players are safe from harm most of the time, I suspect monk bots will be targeting them.

Yeah, happened to me 2 weeks ago (my last old tombs farm). We got a bot monkey. The BOT was a bit dumb, somewhere a bit over the hench level maybe. annyoing stuff was that we had to pick up all the crap, because if the bot spotted anything that got unassigned, rushed to pick it up.

Did you report them to ANet? If you see anything suspicious like this you should write a report immediately because this kind of thing is a new low altogether. If you do come across these kinds of things please report them immediately. This needs to be stopped before it becomes prominent.

ya, as long as you check to make sure the monk responds like a human being, this shouldn't be a problem. But it still should be reported even if you just kick em out for not being real.

I think that I encountered one last time that I was in tombs as well. I was a monk looking for a BP team, but there were so many monks looking for the same that I went with balanced. The other monk didn't say anything the whole run, except once. To ask one of the players that had died a few times if they wanted to buy a candy cane! It seemed kindof like the heals they casted were automated too. They would cast heals on me when we weren't fighting, and when I was at full health. It was really quite odd, the run was successful, we did get the Darkness. The monk bot didn't get a green drop, and had no complaints about it either. So it isn't like I can blame the supposed bot for a failed run, but it was very weird none the less.

I've also noticed this kind of thing happening, but not in tombs (since I don't go there much anymore), in other missions. One of them I can remember fairly good is the one where you need to get the eye and find the chosen for the bonus. There was this caster type character kind of lower level like the rest of us, then there was this lvl 20 monk that was teamed up with him before I joined the group. The monk didn't seem to respond to anything, and quite often, the caster would respond for him, and said that it was his brother. So we were kind of like, "uh, ok". Then as the mission progressed, we noticed some kind of strange behavior, like you said about picking up the drops, well, the monk would do this no matter what was happening. We were in the middle of a fight and most of us were dying, and when I finally died, I looked back to check where the monk was... nowhere to be found, it was off picking up random items that became available. We were all yelling at the monk, and asking him what the hell was going on, no response at all after we all refused to continue, then the caster says, "sorry guys, my brother is retarded sometimes.". Unlike usual behavior, where the monk quits or has some really good explanation in response, nothing, it just stood there. So further on I started watching the monk more, and noticed that it was doing the pacing thing like Alesia does during a battle, and firing off a heal every now and then. I almost reported this guy at the time, but then went on to play other missions and forgot his name.

Please always report any character names you see doing this sort of thing. Last thing we need is more bots running about ingame. It know you can sometimes forget but it does only take 5 seconds to jot a name down on paper.

Your'll do Guild Wars a massive favour

If the bot was asking if you wanted to buy a candy cane, then it probably wasn't a bot, and I've never personally seen a bot in Tombs before, but...

LET THE WITCH HUNT BEGIN!!!!

Some monk on my team yesterday got a victo's bulwark and I got nothing. HAX!!! HE MUST BE A BOT!! I've reported it to Anet I hope he gets banned.

When bots start farming, the economy will go down the drain. I have seen this on DiabloII.

Diablo II's econ went down the drain when people started duping.

The bots weren't even making a dent.

Maybe was not english prown, and really didn't care what you were saying to them cause they didn't understand. Thought Bots like to solo, to get all drops than to fight and kill and let the other people in the party steal their drops?

and,

Stop the henchie bashing, henchies are way better than real players, where's that guy who completed tombs with him + all henchies .

Maybe they have the team and all chat off, cause many people who wants to finish the storyline doesn't want to read bickering in the chat.

Try standing in droks near the exit to lornars pass, there are HUNDEREDS of monk bots pouring in streams into lornars pass farming the trolls. If you want to report every bot you see go ahead, but be prepared to buy a bigger hard drive.

Closest thing I've ever experienced like this was a necro that we got on a TK PUG who stayed out of harms way the entire time never participating in fights. We tried multiple times to take aggro to him just for the hell of it, and he would spam only Soul Feast then pick up his drops. I took him as just a lame coat-tail rider.
